Road access for trucks between Avenida Brasil, in Manguinhos, to gate 32 of the Port of Rio de Janeiro is easier since this Wednesday (28). With the presence of the Minister of Infrastructure, Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas, and the Executive Secretary of MInfra, Marcelo Sampaio, the concessionaire Ecoponte inaugurated Avenida Portuária.
"The Federal Government works on two fronts: remodeling the concessions and guaranteeing investments from previous concessions. We are ensuring that improvements reach society and ensuring compliance with contracts. The concession program is a hit", said the minister. In addition, Tarcísio commented on the work's urban mobility character, where the diversion of truck traffic will favor all the logistics of the avenues in downtown Rio.
The expectation is that 2,600 vehicles travel on the avenue daily. With the new connection, the expectation is that traffic will improve on the roads close to Porto. Two-way, Avenida Portuária will be exclusively for commercial vehicles, without permission for passenger cars, motorcycles and collectives.
Avenida Portuária was built together with the link between the Rio-Niterói Bridge and the Red Line, which opened a year ago and the two works had investments of R$ 450 million, which generated around 1,500 direct and indirect jobs. The two developments are the main ones in the current Ponte concession contract.
