Resolution nº 2.184-ANTAQ was published in the Official Gazette, Section 1, the authorization for the implementation of the expansion project in the Port of Rio de Janeiro of the MultiRio Container Terminal and MultiCar Vehicle Terminal.
The objective of the Multiterminais Group is to enable the port of Rio to receive vessels from 300 to 347 meters in length, the "Super Post Panamax" of the 5th generation, which will be able to land on the South American east coast from the end of this year. For this, the additive term approved by ANTAQ predicts the expansion of 400 meters for each of the two existing berths, which will increase the terminal's operational capacity to 1,000,000 TE / year.
The estimated investment for the expansion project is approximately R $ 500 million and the adjustment in MultiRio and MultiCar contracts also provides for improvements in the port's roll-on roll-off terminal. A garage building will be built that will increase the handling capacity to 326,000 vehicles per year.
The adjustment was also necessary to extend MultiRio's contract. This is because there is no possibility of amortization of new investments, during the term of the current contract.
CDRJ's proposal for the new values of the lease agreements entered into with MultiCar and MultiRio companies was also accepted by the Agency's Board of Directors.
