On April 20th, the MultiRio container terminal started operating with the Navis-Sparcs system, the leading software solution for real-time graphical planning and control of ports around the world. The installation was a successful result of 8 months of training and an investment of approximately US$ 1,000,000.00.
The new system will allow for optimization of container handling, resulting in a productivity increase in loading and unloading, reducing the total ship operating time, bringing direct benefits to Carriers which operate in the terminal.
In addition, a decrease in container patio removals, and the intelligence adopted by the system, will allow for an increase in operational capacity adding more efficiency in container operations. Less fuel will be burned resulting in less carbon emissions for every container handled, as well.
